Yucatán Black Howler Monkey
Species: Alouatta pigra
Other names: Baboon

Howler monkeys are large, long-haired, all-black monkeys. They are about 22 inches in length plus a long tail. They are most well known for their loud 'roaring vocalizations' that you can hear at dawn, late afternoons or during heavy rains.

Howler monkeys eat leaves, fruit and flowers.

They are arboreal and live in lowland forests.
